"Sister against sister in a burning drama of love and hate in the tropics!" Nina Mae McKinney (the "black Garbo") stars as Isabelle, the embittered banana plantation owner who is forced to turn over the spread to her half-sister Sylvia (Ida James) when their father dies. In an effort to drive Sylvia back to New York and win the love of John (Emmett Wallace), Isabelle concocts a voodoo ceremony to send her sister packing. John exposes her plans and her phony powers at the ceremony, forcing Isabelle to have a change of heart which paves the way for he and Sylvia to marry.
This seldom-seen all-black cast film was shot on location in Jamaica. Comic relief is supplied by Hamtree Harrington as a displaced Harlem huckster who thinks his soul has been put into a piglet that winds up on the dinner table.
