I like 70's story porn, the kind where there's a script (however badly written) and a plot (however threadbare) and the performers actually had to memorize lines and could even call themselves actors if anybody asked.
Taken purely as cinema, 'Intimidation' is an interesting piece of work. For one thing, the three actors playing the lead characters--the drug smuggling couple and the crime boss-can actually act. Marlene Willoughby and R. Bolla have sex like most couples who like and care about each other have sex, which is a rare thing in any porn movie, and the actor who plays Blue Boy, the sleazy, sadistic crime boss (sorry but couldn't figure out his name from the credits), gives an acting performance better than most character actors in mainstream movies and television shows. His take on the bad guy is as convincing as it gets.
Of course the plot had holes. Of course the story and dialogue were implausible at times. Don't even get me started on the ridiculously out-of-place banjo-plucking background music.
But it stars Marlene Willoughby, guys, and Marlene Willoughby has an irresistibly fun-to-watch quality that comes through even in a grainy, bleached, decades-old, near-zero budget porn flick. I'd watch her in anything.Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]
